The latest summer vacation

At the end of July we headed off to Idaho to visit family. We were planning on breaking the drive up in two days. After a few miss haps with the truck we made it to our first stop. Navajo lake in Utah. It was very beautiful and there was an awesome mountain bike trail that was easy enough for the kids.
A few more loud noises and broken parts on the truck and we rolled into Boise in time for the festivities. Aunt Susie kindly rented a water slide for the grand kids. They had so much fun. There is Gabby racing down the slide.
After a few days of fun we were back on the road again. There is the kids making the most of the long drive.
Here is our typical lunch stop. There is no missing us with a filthy truck (that started making a very loud noise) filled with bikes and a giant umbrella!
Even on vacation Joel can't get baseball off his brain.

Since nothing new had broken on the truck in the last hundred miles or so, we decided to head to Yellowstone. We had never been there and it was well worth the trip. In the first twenty minutes we saw a bald eagle, moose and bison and that was just the animals. That place is amazing!

There she blows! The kids in front of old faithful.
This guy was moseying down the road. Luck for us he was on the opposite side of the road from us.

Nate and the kids in Bear Lake. Emily was feeling a little under the weather that day so she sat on the shore and took pictures.
When we went to Zion there was a special event going on with all kinds of cool cars like Lamborghinis and things. One of the drivers gave the kids these hats.

  2. I worked the summer of '68 at Cedar Breaks, near Navajo Lake. My late cousin, Sharon, worked at the lake itself during several summers with the U.S. Forest Service back in the 60's and 70's. Of course, you probably know that your great-great Grandpa Henry was one of the first white people to colonize the region. It's great to see that you are treading where your ancestors have trod.
